KNOCKING BIRD

KNOCKING BIRD

I saw him this morning

He came knocking

On my window

As if he wanted to say

Let me in let me in

He knocked and knocked

Until I heard him

As I walked to the window

He kept knocking

And looking in

As if he wanted

To say something

Strange I know

But it felt

As if he was

Delivering a message

To me

I couldn't understand

What could it be

He looked at me

His huge brown eyes

I could see so clear

Strange look

I could not understand

Then I knocked on the glass

And he flew away

But as I turned

And walked away

He knocked again and again

I moved the curtains

To see him there

Knocking again

Go away I said

Fly away

He looked and looked

Then I knocked the glass again

Then he flew away

Then he came again

Knocking and knocking

He came almost every day

And did the same

Still, I cannot understand

But I would do the same

As he would

Day after day
