Seven Seas Apart

Seven Seas Apart

From seven seas apart

They knew each other

Spoken words

He felt her simplicity

Her beauty and charm

Without a doubt

His voice

Like the chimes

In the wind

Like music to the air

It touched her heart

And ignite her soul

They became friends

Knowing little of each other

But what was written and read

Told and untold

For all that is said

Was understood

Even in such silence

She being a known writer

And he a famous filmmaker

What more was left

What more was being said

They encouraged

And supported each other

After a while

The conversation increased

They taught each other

And learn so much unknowingly

Without even wanting to

He had the eyes to capture

And the mind to develop

And make his masterpiece

With perfection and nothing less

And she the mind to create

And make a masterpiece with words

Seven seas apart

Never met

But their friendship

Developed and grew

Slowly but beautifully

Creating many memories

To sit back and someday

Talk about and smile

When the time comes of age

When they grow older

And share their stories

Of these days

Remembering his spoken words

‘You will tell the children of

your great-grandchildren that

there was an old man far away

across the seven seas

that taught me how to make films”

Reply was

‘And you would tell the story

about helping a girl far away

and maybe you will someday

make a movie of it and call it

Friends across seven seas.

Story of the poet and filmmaker’
