The best way to store bread depends on how quickly you plan to eat it:
For bread you'll eat within a few days: Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. A paper bag is ideal for this, as it allows the bread to breathe and prevents mold growth.
For bread you won't eat for a week or more: Freeze the bread. Sliced bread can be frozen directly in its store packaging, while whole loaves should be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil before freezing. Thaw frozen bread at room temperature for a few hours before serving.
Refrigeration is generally not recommended for storing bread, as it can accelerate staling. The cold temperature can dry out the bread and make it tough.
